The End of Cinema

Don't be scared, digital tv is not an mysterious theme, everybody talk about it. Here something I want to share with you.

Don't wait too long, this might be over before you know it.

Via Rob Rushing at UIUC's Kritik blog, I belatedly discovered Thomas Doherty's Chronicle of Higher Education ($) article about the state of film, and by extension, the state of film studies. Like Rushing, I think Doherty's first claim–that celluloid or analog film is likely to dissapear soon–is more or less correct. As more and more theaters convert to digital projection and as digital technologies open up new possibilities, such as the revival of 3D, it seems likely that the move towards .. full post.

This article is posted on yesterday. The strong idea of the post is worthy, superior, good strong and most of all to make no mistakes are quite impossible to attain.

Wilmington, NC's planned digital switch this September 8 is getting all the attention, but 11 Orlando, Florida stations are planning their own analog shut-off testing, starting this June 25 at 8 PM. The participating stations include WESH, WKMG, WFTV, WCEU, WKCF, WMFE, WVEN, WRDQ, WOTF, WTGL and WBCC and two more tests will follow the initial June 25 switch. So far tests in Las Vegas have gone off without a hitch, but some concerns have been raised about the Wilmington switch being smack dab ..next.

I shall introduce you to some wonderful article which was post yesterday about digital tv. They are truly inspirational, standing for the indomitable spirit.

Remember how the Peoria Journal Star quoted a bunch of politicians and political scientists complaining that the bloggers are obsessed with dredging up old quotes to make people look bad, thus providing a disincentive to participate in the process.
